Craps

The Basic Elements of Craps

Of all casino games, craps is among the most exciting ones. Players shouting and yelling at the table are common sights during a heated game.

The game is played on a table that is built just for it. There are two dice that are used during game play. The making of the dice is under very strict standards. During the game, the dice are inspected regularly and are replaced after every eight hours of use. The way players handle the dice during a game is always under strict supervision.

The table where the game is played has the maximum capacity of 20 players at a time. Each of these players has the opportunity to throw the dice and become the shooter. If you do not want to become the shooter, you can make a bet on or against the shooter.

The casino personnel that are present at the table consist of two dealers, a boxman, and a stickman. The shooter must throw the dice across the table layout. There are three areas on the table layout. These are the two side areas that are separated by the center area. The side areas of the table are mirror reflections of each other. The following bets are found on the side areas: Come and Don't Come bets, Pass and Don't Pass bets, Field bets, and Place bets. The Proposition bets are found on the center area.

Every new game is started with a new shooter and the first roll of the dice is called the Come Out roll. A new game starts when the previous shooter wasn't able to get the winning roll. That means that the shooter failed to get a seven out or make the Point. The betting starts before the shooter rolls the dice.

The role of shooter is passed on from player to player in a clockwise direction. When a shooter fails to win or make a point, the role of being a shooter is passed on to the person that is directly on the left side of the previous shooter.

There are many types of bets that are allowed during the game. The following are the basic bets that a player can make every time the dice are rolled. These are pass line bet, Odds on Pass Line Bet, Come Bet, Odds on Come Bet, Don't Pass Line Bet, Don't Come Bet, Place Bets, Field Bets, Big Six and Big Eight Bets, and Proposition Bets.

Proposition Bets have a number of bets that can be made under it. These are Any Craps, Any Seven, Eleven, Ace Deuce, Aces or Boxcars, Horn Bet, and Hardway.

Playing craps can be either simple or complicated depending on where a player places the bets. Learning the basics of the game is necessary to have fun at the table.
